mongoDB was introduced by 10gen, this company was established in 2007, earlier 10gen planned to develop PAAS(platform as a service) production later in 2009 company shifted to an open source development model known as mongoDB, 10gen changed its name to MongoDB Inc.
Production v1.4 considered as a first ready version which was released in March 2010.
Latest version v3.2 is available and v3.4 version will release soon.
